Annual Benefits Open Enrollment & 2026 Health Plan Changes

The Health Trust’s Open Enrollment period will begin on November 15, 2025, and ends on December 15, 2025, for a coverage effective date of January 1, 2026. If you wish to make changes to your medical, vision or dental plans for 2026 you may do so during this timeframe. Please see your employer to submit your changes. Enrollment/Change Forms must be received by the Health Trust by December 15. If no changes are being made to coverage, no forms are required.
2026 summary documents and Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs) for the Trust health plans are now available on the MMEHT website. The Maine Municipal Employees Board of Trustees has elected to make changes to the Health Trust medical plan benefits for 2026, as a result of the increasing cost of healthcare. Affordability continues to be a concern for the Board. Benefit changes that impact fewer members help to keep premiums lower for all. For all plans, the in-network and out-of-network deductible & coinsurance out-of-pocket maximums will be increased, effective January 1, 2026. There will be no changes to deductibles or office visit or prescription copays for 2026.
There will also be changes specific to the Acadia plan. The $100 copay for outpatient services will become 90% coinsurance and inpatient physician services will change from 100% to 90% coinsurance.
For more details on your health plan benefits for 2026, please refer to the information available under Medical Plans on the MMEHT.org website. Information regarding 2026 premium rates will be mailed to employers and participants by mid-November.
